In Honor of Dr. Lillian Tong
The Lillian Tong Teaching Award honors our longtime colleague Dr. Lillian Tong, who inspired many faculty and staff through her professional development programs at UW–Madison and beyond to become the best educators they could be. Lil was a part of the original staff that founded the Center for Biology Education in 1988/89, which has evolved into the Wisconsin Institute for Science Education and Community Engagement (WISCIENCE). The Lillian Tong Teaching Award will celebrate UW–Madison science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medical (STEMM) faculty and staff educators who engage in ongoing teaching professional development, and who demonstrate innovation in their teaching practice that is based on educational research findings and driven by their own evidence of student learning. The goal of the award is to inspire STEMM teachers to continue to innovate and develop creative ways to support STEMM student learning.
