What is an academic accomplishment that you are proud of?
I’m proud of my involvement in research on campus, especially working in the Okonkwo and Kimple labs within the Department of Medicine. Being able to contribute to real scientific projects while balancing a heavy course load has helped me apply what I learn in class to real-world questions and strengthened my interest in pursuing medicine.

What sparked your interest in STEM?
My interest in STEM started before college, shaped by my own experiences with health and by high school biology and chemistry classes that helped me understand what was happening inside the body rather than just memorizing facts. Learning how science could explain real, personal experiences made STEM feel purposeful, and that’s what motivated me to keep pursuing it in college.

What is your vision for life after graduation?
After graduation, I plan to pursue medicine by attending medical school and training to become a physician. I hope to combine science, research, and patient-centered care to make a meaningful impact on people’s lives.

What advice would you give a friend considering becoming a peer leader?
I’d tell them to go for it if they enjoy helping others learn and reflecting on their own growth. Being a peer leader pushes you to communicate clearly, be adaptable, and see learning from a new perspective, and you end up gaining just as much as the students you support.

What have you learned through your experience of being a peer leader?
I’ve learned how important empathy, communication, and patience are in learning spaces. Being a peer leader showed me that everyone learns differently, and supporting others has helped me become more confident, reflective, and intentional in how I approach both academics and leadership.
