My favorite place on campus is the Discovery Building! It is a beautiful study space with nature all around you.
What extracurricular activities are you involved in?
I am involved in Brain Exercise Initiative, Healthy Minds on Campus, and Advocates for Alzheimer’s. I love the community in each of these clubs, and knowing I am making a difference in many lives. I am also a part of the Cheese Club, because cheese curds are my favorite food!
What are your favorite snacks for a study session?
Popcorn or chocolate!
What is your hidden talent?
I can hold a handstand for a minute!
What is an academic accomplishment that you are proud of?
I was proud of myself for turning around how my freshman semester trajectory was going after feeling overwhelmed by how my first semester went.
What sparked your interest in STEM?
My dad is a science teacher and has been encouraging me in STEM my whole life. My aunt was a neurologist and piqued my interest in psychology, and I have been fascinated ever since!
What is your vision for life after graduation?
After graduation I plan to attend a Twin Cities university for a PsyD program to eventually run my own practice.
What advice would you give a friend considering becoming a peer leader?
Embrace discomfort! This role pushes you in many ways, and remembering that it takes time to be comfortable and build connections is so important. There are so many people here to help you, don’t hesitate to reach out.
What have you learned through your experience of being a peer leader?
I have learned adaptability and collaboration skills through the quick-changing environments and interactions with many colleagues and students. It can be hard to adjust right away, but with practice this way of thinking becomes more natural, still with new things to be learned each day!
