Meet Cora Thompson, 2025 Scientific Teaching Fellow

Cora Thompson is a 2025 WISCIENCE Scientific Teaching Fellow and a graduate student in endocrinology and reproductive physiology. She previously attended UW–Stevens Point, where she majored in biology and Spanish. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, reading, and spending time with her cats. 

What has been your favorite part of this program so far? 
Learning about how to be an effective educator.

What are you looking forward to doing in this program?
I am looking forward to the teaching component in fall.

What are some of your career goals and how do you think this program will help you achieve them? 
I would like to teach at a mid-sized university. I think this program will help me to know the position’s expectations and requirements and how to be a successful instructor from the start.

What is one of the most valuable things you have learned as a Fellow?
How to actively engage students in learning.

What is something surprising or unexpected that you’ve experienced as a Fellow?
the multiple ways to use activities in the classroom.   

What excites you about teaching?
Meeting the students and getting to share my love of biology.
