I love that Madisonians are very active.

Fruit or Cheddar Cheez-its

What is your hidden talent?
I’m pretty good at cooking

What is an academic accomplishment that you are proud of?
I’m really proud to have completed the entire chemistry sequence—General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry I, and Organic Chemistry II—though I still have more chemistry courses ahead. I’m happy to have made it past the ones considered the most difficult. If I can get through those, I know I can handle any class!

What sparked your interest in STEM?
My interest was sparked by learning that in human biology, there’s a reason and explanation for why things happen, especially in the body. Everything has a chemical component and intricate processes that explain why something occurs. I’ve always been fascinated by understanding the chemical and biological physiology behind these processes in the body.

What is your vision for life after graduation?
After graduation, I plan to take time to strengthen my medical school application. So I will be doing a lot of studying and mental preparation.

What advice would you give a friend considering becoming a peer leader?
To a friend considering becoming a peer leader, I would advise them not to hesitate. All the peer mentors I’ve encountered in my academic journey have been incredibly helpful and insightful. It’s a great feeling to talk to a peer who truly understands what you’re going through—someone who gets what a certain class feels like and understands university life in general. If you’ve had the benefit of such support, it would be amazing to pass that experience along to a fellow student in need. We are fortunate to have gone through these experiences, and it would be even better if we could share them to help ensure the academic success of others.

What have you learned through your experience of being a peer leader?
I’ve learned that we know more than we often admit and that we—not just peer leaders, but everyone—are full of knowledge and great ideas just waiting to be shared. As a peer leader, I’ve also realized that I’m always learning and will continue to do so. I also love what I do—I love helping my peers and ensuring the academic success of others. In this life, we should all help each other reach greater heights, and that is a belief I am very passionate about.
