Peer Leaders act as mentors, role models, and a point of connection to the larger university community for their STEM peers. This practicum course builds on INTEGSCI 230: Exploring Peer Leadership in STEM and gives students the opportunity to apply their leadership, mentoring, and communication skills and knowledge to supporting their peers in a STEM program or course.

As peer leaders, students prepare and lead activities and/or develop resources to facilitate STEM student success and engagement, as well as engage in activities that enhance their own leadership development. Peer leaders do not teach course content, but rather offer a unique perspective and source of support for their peers.

This course includes two components: time meeting with peer leaders and program director(s)/instructors, and time engaging in the leadership experience.

Part of the WISCIENCE Peer Leader program

This course is required for some peer leader positions and optional for others; please see individual position descriptions for details.
