The Discovery Building is my favorite study spot!

What do you like most about Madison?
I love the quick-changing atmosphere and welcoming environment. You can go from a busy city feeling to relaxing, all in a 5 minute walk. I love walking down State Street and taking it all in!

What are your favorite snacks for a study session?
Popcorn, chocolate, and Goldfish!

What is your hidden talent?
I can hold a handstand for one minute!

What is an academic accomplishment that you are proud of?
I am proud of how after a challenging first round of midterms, I was able to adjust how I approached my school work and studying and ended with a grade I was very happy with. Despite the challenges, I was able to push through, and it was so rewarding.

What sparked your interest in STEM?
My dad is a science teacher and has ingrained the importance of science in my life. My aunt went to UW and became a neurologist, and I remember talking to her about her experiences so often. I am so thankful to be supported by my family!

What is your vision for life after graduation?
Likely grad school back in MN!

What advice would you give a friend considering becoming a peer leader?
Lean into discomfort! Learning takes time and it isn’t always easy. You will get the hang of things fast, and once you do, it is such a rewarding experience to see the students’ experiences change for the better because of you.

What have you learned through your experience of being a peer leader?
I have learned how to have difficult conversations, create a welcoming and inclusive environment, and collaborate on a multitude of tasks with colleagues.
