Simone Biles

What is your favorite place on campus?
I LOVE the Discovery Building to study! This is such a unique place that is especially nice in the winter!

What extracurricular activities are you involved in?
I am involved in Advocates for Alzheimer’s, the cheese club, packages for patients, and the pickleball club!

What do you like most about Madison?
I love that there is always something happening on campus—whether it’s a sporting event or fun student gathering! I also love the beautiful scenery while also having the big-city feel. There are so many opportunities across campus, I love constantly learning what’s available!

What is your hidden talent?
I can hold a handstand for 1 minute!

What is an academic accomplishment that you are proud of?
I am proud of how I bounced back from some pretty difficult classes and exams, not letting what happened impact my outlook on other classes or future exams. I was able to really turn things around, and this has helped me interact with students when they express concern about their classes!

What sparked your interest in STEM?
My dad is an elementary science teacher, so I have been surrounded by science for as long as I can remember!

What is your vision for life after graduation?
I plan to attend grad school to receive a PsyD.

What advice would you give a friend considering becoming a peer leader?
Embrace the change! it will feel awkward at first—but once you get comfortable, you will see how great of an influence you have on these students and your peers.

What have you learned through your experience of being a peer leader?
I learned the many resources available to students on campus as well as improving my public speaking skills and adaptability to fast-changing classroom environments.
