Wilderness Explorers was developed by WISCIENCE staff under the umbrella of the Mazomanie (Science) Outreach Outpost. The program was a week‐long camp for children entering grades 7 and 8. Participants explored the great outdoors, learning about orienteering, edible & poisonous plants, and wilderness survival skills. The week culminated in an overnight canoe‐camping trip on the Kickapoo River. This program was successfully institutionalized at the Goodman Community Center of Madison in 2012.
